Get your 1911 up to Combat reliability by turning in GI Mags and upgrading to Wilson Combat 1911 Magazines. Wilson magazines will increase feeding reliability and increase your 1911s ammo tolerances by properly aligning each round with the chamber and avoid nose dives and failures to feed. 7rd magazines are standard for 1911s, but you won't have any problems upgrading to the 8rd magazines which will not through the balance of your pistol off. The Wilson ETM Magazines are the toughest you'll find at $32.99 each. There are plenty of cheap GI magazines you can find on the internet for range mags, but there is a real the 1911 pattern of firearms have stuck around. We've recently attended IDPA competitions where we saw all kinds of firearm being used and it's amazing to see this old war horse still winning competitions.
The 1911 designs have deviated pretty far from the original design, but Wilson Combat gun magazines have still been the primary gun magazine for the 1911 competitor. Many in the hand loading community will swear that bullet feeding is drastically improved with the Wilson Combat gun magazines and there is a reason our number one sellers are the 7rd and 8rd mags. Semi-wad cutter bullet designs will be difficult to feed in many GI or similarly design barrels but I've seen them jam in GI mags, but feed in the Wilson Combat mags. We recommend making sure you rotate your primarily gun magazines and use these for as your primary magazines if you are a CCW holder.
